Get Your Packages in Early!

Candidates should submit their Nomination Packages early in the nomination period, in case corrections need to be made, or additional information is required. All documents must be completed and submitted by the deadline.

Please note that packages submitted via email cannot be accepted. Original/wet signatures are required.

If possible, collect extra signatures

The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer suggests that candidates collect extra nomination signatures just in case a signatory’s address hasn’t been updated with MNA Registry, or the Citizen wasn’t sure which District they belong to.

Confirm Your District

Use the Google Map District Mapping Tool to confirm your district, as well as the district of Citizens signing your nomination papers.

Confirm Your Information is Correct with Registry

Candidates, signatories and voters are encouraged to use the MNA Registry’s Contact Information Portal to confirm that contact information is correct. This includes email addresses and phone numbers, so that election information can be communicated to Citizens through different channels.

Please note voting eligibility (including running as a candidate) is based on residential address, not mailing address.

Citizens who are unable to access the online portal can contact the MNA Registry Department at 780-455-2200 or send an email to [email protected].

Do Your Reading!

There is a lot of information regarding Otipemisiwak Métis Government elections, however, the Chief Electoral Officer recommends that candidates pay close attention to the following documents:

  • Elections & Referenda Act, specifically the Candidate Code of Conduct
  • Campaign Finance Regulation
  • Any letters or emails you receive from the Chief Electoral Office. Pay close attention to deadlines!
  • Keep an eye out for Candidate Information Bulletins – these bulletins will cover important topics

Don’t Forget About Campaign Finance Disclosures

All candidates who run in Otipemisiwak Métis Government elections need to submit the appropriate Campaign Finance Disclosure Package sixty (60) days after results have been certified. These documents are included in your candidate welcome package.

Candidates who didn’t receive any contributions/donations, or didn’t occur any campaign expenses will still need to fill these documents out.
